I remember reading something where they were talking about introducing "life skills" into the game, like fishing, crafting (possibly) and some others.
This might be that update / patch / expansion.

Seems likely, I read that too. At any rate, think of this: If there is a new campaign, the PvP event (should there be one!) would be Feb. on the last weekend. Then the PvE would be a month after. Anet could announce this any day now!

Doubtful... this is all speculation, and Utopia probably isn't the name, considering they would have registered the name under copyright.... they didn't. Then again, NCSoft could be quite brave and not copyright it until it is almost released. Who knows, there is enough speculation in this thread to start a new career as a finger doctor, because your fingers are going to be sooo sore from pointing them this way and that way.
On a side note... I don't want to see another game, rather an expansion. New abilities for the existing classes, maybe 1 new class, but I would prefer no new classes. Perhaps they could bring Dhuum into the story? I doubt he is dead, you can't kill a god. Grenth needs to get his ass kicked around a bit by the old man.

Very interesting... no it hasn't been confirmed. When someone asked Gaile Gray she seemed to skip the question, even answering questions that had been asking before about 2minutes before that. I think you people have stumbled onto something...

Looks like the people that tried to quash the speculations were somewhat incorrect themselves.

I would suggest people pick from one of Gaile Gray's responses; 'maybe', 'probrably', 'perhaps', 'possibly', 'I'll have to ask what the developers have to say', 'I'll get back to you on that', '*skips the question*', 'the future is looking good'... but not 'no'. *cough* just teasing^^.
I for one would put my money on the next installment to be called Guild Wars: Utopia, mainly because they have done the exact same thing with Nightfall (http://guildwarsnightfall.com) and Factions (http://guildwarsfactions.com). Its not possible to provide hard evidence that the game will most definately be called Utopia, but trends are not easy to break.

GameSpot is probably THE #1 gaming website, even ahead of GS/IGN, and all the publishers have a major interest of mainatining good relations with them. If GameSpot quote a publisher respresentative then that means that they got a personal email. They wouldn't make up such quotes from rumors or hearsay.

It will just be one of the many website address's which Anet bought incase they need them.
I expect they have countless website address which will lead you to their main website, if you looked for them.
Since this one doesnt take you to any particular utopia website, instead of the normal one, I wouldnt put any faith in it being something special.

But they would try to misdirect people trying to spoil the surprise if NCSoft asked them to.
By failing to name their source they give NCSoft plausable deniability.

There's a difference between "misdirect" and lie. PR people are very careful what they say when they want to shroud something that is not yet ready to be revealed. Gaile Gray is an expert in making unclear, misdirecting statements in such cases. But she has never lied. If NCsoft say "we do not intend to use it for a product name" and later use it as the name for a campaign (which is clearly a product), that would be a plain lie. That's something I wouldn't expect them to do.

Aren't you also basing that on speculation? Don't start a rumour chain now...

Noone knows anything concrete, other than the website. But as already pointed out, it could be for a side-project. So the conclusion is that until more evidence, the existence of GW:U is a negative.

Oh and this redirect is not proof of anything a lot of companies setup unuse domain names to their main sites in case people try to use them.
Like we all have in this case.

Just out of curiosity, why are we all still wondering what the name of the next GW chapter will be? Not, mind you, why do we want to know, but instead why do we not already know? Presumably they've picked a name by now, likely long since, and while some things likely remain in flux there is likely quite a lot about the next chapter that is set in stone.
Why is it we know nothing whatsoever, beyond having been told they're working on... Something?
I just don't get the secrecy. I knew more about Oblivion a year before it was released than I knew about Nightfall a week before it was released -- a bit of an exageration, perhaps, but not by much. I can't imagine Anet is afraid someone is going to steal their ideas -- and. let's be honest here, originality is not their strong suit anyway -- so why is it that the name of the next chapter will likely come out because someone poked around the /whois database rather than having been announced, along with a couple of paltry details and more fanfare than is really justified, by Anet by now?
It can't be because they're afraid of losing sales on Prophecies/Factions/Nightfall, can it? Anyone buying any of those probably knows there's going to be another chapeter in a couple of months anyway -- it's not like holding off on buying AOE II because you heard AOE III is coming out soon.
I suppose the only real answer is that Anet feels a deluge of information weeks before release builds excitement better than a trickle from one chapter to the next. Perhaps they're right, certianly marketing is well outside my areas of expertise, but frankly I think tossing the playerbase a nugget now and then before the deluge starts -- like the name of the next chapter, setting, what have you -- would be a better way to go.

Actually Myria, according to some sources (namely release schedules from a few big name companies) Guild Wars Chapter 4 is due for release in September 2007, so if we go by previous releases, we'll start to hear about it June, PvP weekend in July and PvE event in August before release in September
Quite a while off yet them

Nooo, that was merely players speculating about what they might like to see in GW. That "info" never came from official sources.
Myria, my best guess about why we don't know anything is that Anet loves to keep people guessing, buzzing, talking, fussing and spreading rumors about Guild Wars. It keeps interest high, which is great for future sales. I've watched them play the players for 20 months now. It's fascinating but predictable.

That means nothing guildwarsfactions.com and guildwarsnightfalls.com points to the name site also not to some site just for that chapter. It is one thing to reserve the name which was done a long time ago, but it only recently started to point to the main site. Which is what start the rumors up again.
